What Should You Be Keeping in Your Car

Do you ever wonder what you should have in your car, just in case? Here’s a list from Gulf Breeze Automotive that can help you to put together the things you really need.

First Aid Kit

A small first aid kit can be incredibly helpful in your car. You never know when you’ll need a bandage for a small scrape or even something for a headache. Most drugstores have pre-packaged first aid kits available for sale and they’ve got a little bit of everything you might need when you’re out and about. The best part is that the kit itself is really easy to restock when you use up what came with it. It’s a good idea to take some time every couple of months and see if you need to either dispose of out-of-date items or restock the kit.

Generic Toolkit

You don’t have to be a mechanic to need a tool occasionally. And if you’re ever stuck on the side of the road for want of a wrench, you’ll wish you had a small generic toolkit in your car. The right toolkit for your car is going to have a few sizes of wrenches and at least one of each main type of screwdriver, Phillips and flathead. These items could be handy for any number of small issues you could face while you’re driving your car.

Emergency Items

If the situation is a bit more complicated, it’s possible that you might want to consider having some emergency items on hand. That might be a portable jump starter for your car’s battery, or at least jumper cables. It could also mean keeping some non-perishable food and water in the car, especially if you tend to drive your car in places where getting stranded might mean you aren’t very close to anything at all. Think about what you would want to have with you in an emergency, and if it makes sense to include it, do so.

Helpful and Required Documents

There are plenty of documents you’re required to have in your car at all times, like insurance information and your car’s registration. You should also always have your driver’s license with you. It’s also good to have other documents, like your car’s owner’s manual and anything that might help you to access services you could need while you’re driving, like roadside assistance information or the contact information for your favorite mechanic shop.
